Two devoted dogs, soaked to the skin, refuse to abandon their post on a half-submerged wall as they continue to guard their northern China home against the devastating flooding caused by Typhoon Doksuri.

Video filmed in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province on August 2, shows the two courageous canines bravely withstanding the deluge as if standing sentinel for their absent owners.

Despite the rescue team's efforts, the two guardians barked defiantly at a would-be saviour, steadfastly refusing to leave their post. Moved by their loyalty, the rescuer was forced to drop off some food for the pair and depart, unable to convince them to abandon their duty.

Netizens, recognising the dogs as Caucasians, noted their strong sense of territory, acknowledging the unlikelihood that anyone unfamiliar would be able to coax them away safely from the floodwaters.

The video filmed in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province on Aug 2 shows two soaked dogs lying on the wall of a house that has been half submerged by floodwaters, as if they were still guarding home for their owners.

According to the filmer, a member of the rescue team, he tried to save them from the flood but the two guardians refused to give up their duties and barked at him, so he dropped off some food for them and left.

Some netizens recognized them as Caucasian dogs who have a strong sense of territory and it is indeed unlikely that strangers would approach and take them away safely.
