Search and rescue operation continues in Shovi, Georgia

The video shows a search and rescue operation continuing in the mountain resort town of Shovi. Army units joined the rescuers and rangers.
According to the latest data, as a result of a landslide that descended in Shovi on August 3, 16 people were killed. Bridges were destroyed, the road at the entrance to Shovi was damaged. By this time, rescuers had evacuated 210 people. The day before, it was reported about the search for 25 missing persons.
At the moment, 400 rescuers and 200 military personnel are taking part in the operation. In addition, border police helicopters and special equipment are involved.
Experts say that about 5 million cubic meters of solid mass have descended on the resort of Shovi. There is no danger of a repeat of such a natural disaster in Shovi at this stage, experts say.
The climatic and balneological resort of Shovi is located at an altitude of 1.5 thousand meters above sea level in the Onsky district (Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region).
