Captured on CCTV at 12:23 p.m. local time, a masked man wielding an axe was seen targeting a grocery store while most of the village's men were at mosques for Friday prayers. The intruder, donning a helmet wrapped in a striped plastic bag for concealment, intimidated the 22-year-old shopkeeper, Jannah, into surrendering the cash on hand.

Reportedly, the robber made off with 4.5 million rupiah, approximately 300 USD. The police, soon alerted, initiated an investigation. AKP Saherman, head of the IV Angkat Candung Police Sector, emphasized the traumatic impact on the shopkeeper. With the assistance of Bukittinggi resort police, they are fervently seeking the suspect. Irsal, the store's 41-year-old owner, believes the assailant may be an acquaintance.

CCTV footage shows the robber entering the store in Agam district, West Sumatra province, on August 4 around 12:23 p.m. local time.

He was wearing a helmet wrapped in a striped plastic bag, presumably to conceal his identity. He then approached the female shopkeeper and demanded money, threatening her with the axe.

The shopkeeper, identified as Jannah (22), said she was forced to hand over the cash in the drawer.

The robber then fled the scene with 4.5 million rupiah or about 300 USD.

The incident occurred when the village was empty because most of the men were at the mosques for Friday prayers.

The police were alerted and launched an investigation. The head of the IV Angkat Candung Police Sector, AKP Saherman, said the shopkeeper was shocked and traumatised by the robbery.

He also said the police were working with the Bukittinggi resort police to track down and arrest the suspect.

The owner of the store, Irsal (41), said he suspected that the robber was someone he knew.
