Footage shows Spanish actor's son Daniel Sancho Bronchalo being taken to court today over the alleged murder and dismemberment of his gay lover on an idyllic Thai island.

The chef, 29, allegedly battered wealthy Colombian plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, 44, to death on Koh Phangnan last Wednesday.

His long-distance lover - who he had been in a relationship with for one year - had visited the island to attend the island's famous Full Moon Party with him.

But Daniel - the son of Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre and actress Silvia Bronchalo - allegedly planned the murder then cut his boyfriend's coprse into 14 pieces. He then partied with two friends before filing a missing person's report for the dead man.

Shocked locals found a dismembered pelvis on Thursday morning before Daniel was arrested on suspicion of murder. He allegedly confessed to killing Edwin in an argument over 'sex and money'.

On Sunday, the long-haired Spaniard directed police to a spot on the beach where he used to kayak to dump other body parts. Police divers later recovered the victim's head and hands.

Daniel was detained in custody and put on suicide watch ahead of a court appearance today at the Koh Samui Provincial Court. Cops said he will be remanded in custody if the judge does not allow bail ahead of a trial later this year.

Police Lieutenant General Surapong Thanomjit said the chef had been charged with 'premeditated murder and secretly moving or destroying a corpse to conceal a death or the cause of death'.

He said: 'The suspect has confessed to being the one who killed Edwin Arrieta Arteaga and dismembered the body. He put the parts in a suitcase and left them in the sea.

'He claimed that the victim was angry when he refused to sleep with him. Then he punched him in the head, causing him to fall over and hit the bathtub, so he cut the body to disguise the death.'
