A car was battered by a sudden avalanche of debris as it was passing under a bridge tunnel in northern China.

Dashcam footage filmed in Changchun City in Jilin Province on August 3, shows a massive quantity of foreign objects falling from the top of a tunnel, striking the front hood of a car and causing an emergency brake.

Another video from the scene showed the car's front engine hood completely buried under the debris, halting traffic underneath the bridge tunnel, and the vehicle's airbag had been deployed.

Eyewitnesses reported a man and a woman were inside the car, with the man suffering minor injuries, but thankfully, nothing serious.

Officials from the Changchun Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Brigade in Kuancheng District clarified that the bridge tunnel did not collapse. Instead, construction waste stored at the connecting part of the bridge had fallen.

Emergency repairs were underway, with normal traffic expected to be restored by August 4.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
