Security guard carried a kilometre on Mercedes bonnet in China after heated parking dispute
A Mercedes dragged a security guard on the bonnet for a kilometre after a heated parking dispute in eastern China.
Video filmed in the city of Tai'an in Shandong Province on August 6 shows a Mercedes honking incessantly at the closed gates of a residential complex for over a minute.
A security guard arrived to open the gate, but an argument broke out between the two, resulting in the driver suddenly reversing into the guard.
In a shocking turn, the guard, shouting at the driver, positions himself in front of the car to prevent it from leaving. Unperturbed, the vehicle continues forward, forcing the guard to use both hands to brace against the engine hood, his body retreating as the car moves on.
A second video clip shows the guard on top of the bonnet, the car still driving.
Responding to the incident, property management staff at the complex disclosed on August 7 that the driver had previously parked haphazardly in the underground garage due to a lack of parking space.
An altercation had occurred earlier that day between the guard and the driver over parking issues. Harbouring a grudge over the dispute, the driver intentionally provoked the guard by honking for an extended period, escalating the conflict once more.
The guard was carried nearly a kilometre by the car and was later examined at a hospital, sustaining only minor abrasions to the arm.
Tai'an traffic police responded to the incident, stating that the suspect has been criminally detained by Tai'an City Public Security Bureau Taishan Branch for suspicion of provocation and is currently under further investigation.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
