Meet Angela, the human-like sun bear that broke the internet (clean version)
Journalists from Xinhua News Agency took an extraordinary journey to Hangzhou Zoo to unravel the mystery of Angela, the human-like sun bear that broke the internet in China.
The 4-year-old sun bear exhibited astonishingly human-like characteristics that left social media users baffled and entertained.
From her upright stance to her calculated movements, Angela's uncanny resemblance to a person has caused some to wonder if this is a real bear or a human prankster.
According to Jiang Zhi, the Vice head of Hangzhou Zoo: “All bear species including black bears and brown bears are able to stand on their feet."
"Captive bears are less likely to be stressed. When encountering visitors, they enjoy interacting with visitors, especially the lively sun bears."
Angela has been a resident of Hangzhou Zoo since 2020, alongside her partner, Dalu.
The sun bears can be found in southwestern China and southeastern Asian countries. They are under first-class national protection in China.
