At least five people were injured in a massive explosion in Turkey's northwestern province of Kocaeli on August 7.

The NTV broadcaster said the blast occurred in a large warehouse that belonged to the Turkish Grain Board in Derince Port.

The injured people have been rushed to nearby hospitals, it added.

Fire brigades and health care units were dispatched to the scene, it noted, adding that the area has been cordoned off in case of more explosions.

According to the NTV, tons of grain had been stored in the warehouse and the cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.
