Bizarre ritual where devotees break coconuts on their heads were held in India
Location: Tamilnadu India
In a bizarre ritual devotees gather together to celebrate the holy Tamil month 'Aadi'. 1000 devotees gathered near the temple and worshipped the goddess.
Few people came and stood in a rows that included women devotees also. Then a godman came on wearing a shoes made of nails and he prayed the god and broke the coconuts on the heads of the devotees.
Few devotees sustained injuries but they were treated with the holy ask given by the priest from the temple. Neither of them went to hospital.
Devotees believe that these rituals will please the god and their prayers will be answered
