A dog named Doudou in Dezhou, Shandong Province, sensed an impending earthquake in its sleep and immediately awoke its owner, potentially saving lives.

CCTV footage, filmed at 2:33 am on August 6, shows a dog rousing from a peaceful dream and sprinting out of the frame as if sensing the imminent danger. Its owner was left dazed but unharmed as the dog rushed into the room.

A mere five seconds later, the room was a scene of chaos as objects violently shook, heralding the arrival of the earthquake. The owner, awakened by Doudou's frantic barking, hurried out of the room in the nick of time.

The owner, filled with gratitude, has since rewarded the faithful and clever Doudou with a special extra meal as a token of appreciation for its loyalty.

The 5.5-magnitude quake rocked the plains of Shandong Province, causing 20 minor injuries but, thankfully, no deaths, according to a report from People's Daily Online.
