Footage of a severely damaged road in the Lake District, UK in the wake of Storm Desmond.

The video, filmed on Monday, shows the main north south road in the Lake District, Cumbria - the A591 - partially destroyed with large sections of the road washed away into the Thirlmere reservoir.

The Main North South road in the Lake District, the A591 has been destroyed at Wythburn by the floods in Cumbria. Large sections of the carriageway have been washed away into the Thirlmere reservoir.

This first clip shows a section on the road from Grasmere to Keswick, just after Dunmail Raise and before you reach Thirlmere reservoir itself. The road has been undercut and 2/3 of the width of the carriageway has been washed away in the worst affected parts.
