Iran's Foreign Ministry on Monday summoned, for the second time in less than a month, Danish Ambassador to Tehran Jasper Vahr over the recurrent desecration of the Quran in the Scandinavian country, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
  
Speaking at a weekly press conference in the Iranian capital Tehran on Monday, ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said the ministry had asked the Danish envoy to convey to the Danish government Tehran's strong protest against the continuation of the sacrilegious acts against the Islamic holy book.
   
Vahr was also informed of Iran's expectation from the Danish government to take responsible and deterrent measures against the desecration of the Quran in Denmark, said Kanaani.
   
He said the Danish ambassador elaborated on his government's measures to stop Quran desecration.
   
Over the past weeks, the Quran has been desecrated several times in Sweden and Denmark, igniting fury and criticism from Muslim-majority countries across the world.
   
On July 22, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Vahr to protest against the "insult" to the Quran in Denmark, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported.
