A man has shared nail-biting footage of the terrifying moment he cycled on the edge of one of the world’s most dangerous tracks – known as the “knife edge”.

Alex Holowko has been a professional mountain bike rider since the age of 15, having since taken on some of the most treacherous routes there are.

The 33-year-old thrill-seeker from Innerleithen, Scotland, recently took a bike ride in Crans Montana, Switzerland, sharing a terrifying video of himself cycling on the edge of a mountain with a 1,000ft drop.

The track is just 12 inches wide in some spots.

Alex later shared a video of his adventure on Instagram, (@alexridesmtb ), where it has racked up 49.5m views and over 1.3m likes.

“I was away with a group of friends and we wanted to do something epic!” Alex said.

“So we asked the nice guy in the bike shop for any riding recommendations outside of the bike park.

“He recommended a route but said it was a ‘committing’ ride.

“As soon as we were on there, it made me feel amazing!

“I love riding where there is a fine balance of focus and danger.

“All you can think about is the task at hand… nothing else.

“Places where mistakes cannot happen.

”The group headed off on 12 July 2023 and it took them six hours to complete the bike ride on the route, which is usually used as a walking and goat trail.

Alex said: “It was technically demanding for both body and mind.

“Not so much high-speed mountain biking, more slow technical steep trails with high consequences.

“I don't like to think about what would happen if I crashed or fell, it distracts my focus.

“I'm confident in my ability on the bike.

“I know my bike and body in space and time very well.”.

In the video, Alex is wearing a camera on his headgear, riding his bike next to a massive drop.

He whizzes through rubbles of rocks, over small bumps, and through gaps, and can be heard saying “Holy moly” and “Oh my god”.

His Instagram post was captioned: “KNIFE EDGE, one of the craziest rides I’ve ever been on - makes you feel alive!”

It has left social media users at the edge of their seats.

Sky said: “Why do people do this sh*t lmao I never understood.”

Sophie added: “Use me as a 'HELL NO!!' button.”

Wasif wrote: “Why am I turning phone to right side.”

“I always love these comment sections.

“Those who don't mountain bike, will just never understand,” added Tim.

“Can’t cope but can’t stop watching,” added Sophie.

“I'd twitch and fall off immediately,” said Jordana.

“I couldn’t even walk along there, let alone ride.

“My stomach was doing somersaults just watching that,” added Mel.
