Launch debris from Russian satellite lights up Melbourne night sky like a stellar meteor
In the latest episode of 'Everything is Not What it Seems,' Jacqueline Scheicher learned that not every stunning object streaking down the sky is a meteor.
"I was going to get a milkshake and saw this," Jacqueline told WooGlobe. "At first, I thought it was a meteor. However, it was launch debris from a Russian satellite."
The way the descending mass lit up the night sky, it's totally understandable that people would mistake it for a celestial spectacle, especially when it's viewed from a considerable distance.
Jacqueline added that she considers herself 'blessed' for having witnessed this jaw-dropping sight.
