Playful Wild Bear Caught on Camera in Turkey
A young brown bear in Turkey channels its inner Baloo from Disney's Jungle Book as it joyfully scratches its back against a tree. Captured by a camera trap set by Turkey's Directorate of Nature Conservation, the bear's antics include a playful "twerking" twist while rubbing against the bark.
These camera traps monitor wildlife movements, aiding in the study of bears, wolves, lynxes, and boars. The tree serves as a territorial marker, allowing animals to communicate dominance and boundaries through scent.
The Directorate explains these designated trees promote biodiversity preservation with markers stating, "This tree has been left for the preservation of biological diversity."
Known as "tree rubbing," this common bear behavior isn't just about scratching; it's a means of communication, grooming, and stretching muscles.
