Officials of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) came to the aid of labourers who were stranded in a flooded area in northern India's Uttarakhand.

This happened near Malan Bridge in the Pauri district on August 8.

Visuals showed the rescue operation in progress with the officials saving every person stranded one by one. Due to heavy rainfall, the water level of the river rose and the labourers, who were on their way home, were trapped. The SDRF officials used a rope and life jackets to conduct this rescue operation. Every stranded person wore a life jacket and held on to the rope before jumping into the water. The officials had held the rope tightly at the other end which prevented these people from getting swept away by the water which was flowing in a strong current.

The officials then dragged the people one by one and brought them to safety. According to a report, there were 16 of them who were trapped and sub-inspector Manohar Kanyal and his team rushed to the spot with rescue equipment after reaching information about this incident.

Heavy rainfall has led to similar floods all across northern India, especially Uttarakhand and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for several districts of the state.
