A cute schoolgirl was seen trying to stuff a cat into her bag in Malaysia.

The cheeky eight-year-old Sofea spotted the stray animal when she arrived at school before her classes started in Johor on April 13.

Sofea's teacher Maisarah who had been watching the youngster said she thought the girl approached the feline to greet it, but she was amused when she suddenly tried to take the creature in a funny way.

Footage shows Sofea holding the ginger cat around its neck while trying to put it inside her backpack but without success.

Special needs teacher Maisarah said: ‘As soon as she passed through the school gates, she saw the cat. She went towards it and I was shocked when she tried to stuff it in her bag.'

But the cat had escaped from Sofea's little hands and ran away. The youngster tried to chase it but the creature was too fast.

Teacher Maisarah added: 'Sofea was too friendly with the cat that she wanted to take it home. She's a funny girl.'

Meanwhile, the cat that had escaped the student's attempted catnapping went to the garden and watched as the little girl left for her classroom.
