STORYLINE:

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on Friday the target of the government's medium-term economic program was to bring down the inflation from the current 47.83 percent to the single digits.

Yilmaz made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of the finance sector in Türkiye's largest city, Istanbul.

According to the Turkish statistics agency, Türkiye's annual inflation rose to 47.83 percent in July from 38.21 percent in June. The government downplayed concerns, describing this increase as a transitional process, adding that with the positive impact of the monetary policy stance, annual inflation would start to fall from mid-2024.

The vice president said that the government is set to introduce the medium-term economic plan in September, which has already been shared with financial sectors and garnered a positive reception.
