Rescue officials come to the aid of man trapped in river in northern India
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials came to the aid of a man who was trapped between two streams of river in northern India's Uttarakhand.
This happened in Tarsali area of Rudraprayag district of the state on August 10.
Visuals showed the SDRF officials save the man, identified as Harish, who was stranded. The officials, from the other end of the river, got a rope and life jacket and the man, a 40-year-old, caught hold of it. He then put on the life jacket and held on to the rope tightly before getting down on the water. The water flowed at a very strong current and a minor slip-up could have proven to be fatal.
Harish held on to the rope tightly and made his way through the water with the officials ensuring everything was under control. He was saved by the officials. Hailing from Nepal, Harish then thanked the officials for saving his life. Harish had been on the Kedarnath Yatra and was returning. He had taken a shortcut to Guptkashi by using the river bank as the road was blocked with debris from a landslide and ended up being trapped.
The SDRF officials along with inspector Karan Singh, had actually gone to the area to clear out the debris from a landslide.
