Footage shows locals enjoying the walk through a mile-long green footbridge that connects two parks in Bangkok, Thailand.

The structure, nicknamed the ‘Green Bridge' by locals, has become an attractive place for social-media obsessed locals to pose for pictures, creating a feel that escapes from the notorious concrete jungle of the capital city.

It connects the Lumphini and Benjakitti parks in and is a 1.6km long elevated walkway that was built in 1999. It is accessible to pedestrians and bikers.

Deputy Bangkok Governor Sakchai Boonma said the bridge could attract criminals because it was seldom used and dark at night, so security cameras and lighting were added for it to be safer.

He said: ‘The renovation was mainly to improve safety through security cameras.'

The bridge's renovation was set to finish in September with a better bike and running lanes, as well as elevated mini-parks aside from security cameras.
