Universal Studios Orlando held the Grand Opening of their new Minon Land on Friday August 11th which includes their new flagship ride - Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. This is an HD ride through on Opening Day.
Friday Aught 11th marked the grand opening of the Minions ride in Minion Land at Universal Studio Orlando! The occasion was marked by the opening of the new flagship attraction in the Minon Land section titled - Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast!
Minion Blast is a shooting dark ride attraction, though guests do not actually ride the attraction per se, but rather stand on a moving platform that places them in front of various villains that they ”shoot” at with electric sensor weapons, much like guests do at the park’s other attraction Men in Black Alien Attack. It’s a colorful and immersive experience with a lot to see and shoot at, making it a welcome new addition to the park, which many park critics have accused of becoming stale over the years. Players gain points by shooting at a number of moving targets on large video screens as they are whisked from room to room, standing upright, but without ever walking. Jaws fans, many who are still upset about the closure of the beloved Jaws ride at the park in 2012, will take solace in the fact that one underwater d Drrrprp segment shows a digitalized version of the ship - The Orca. Moreover, there are lots of clever additions just like that which will keep park guests enjoying the ride over and over again as they attempt to spot all the hidden and not-so-hidden details throughout.
Here’s an edited but full first-person ride-through of the exciting new attraction, just in time for Halloween Horror Nights, which begins September 1st!
