A car drifted in muddy flood as monsoon rains hit a neighbourhood in the Philippines on Saturday.

Footage shows the half-submerged vehicle floating away in the water when torrential rains lashed Tumaga Village in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur province, on August 12.

State weather agency PAGASA said the stormy weather was caused by the southwest monsoon, which is expected to bring scattered rainshowers across the country during the week.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
