A Russian tourist has been arrested after his girlfriend plunges to her death from the seventh floor of their hotel in Thailand on Sunday.

Oeaop Nbahobny Fedor, 30, appeared to be standing at the window when Daria Iuzifiak, 32, was dangling by her legs in Pattaya at around 6am on Sunday morning August 13.

CCTV cameras captured the moment the woman was suspended by her feet then fell backwards and head first to the ground with her arms flailing.

Daria was found by security guards naked from the waist-down and lying face-down in a pool of blood inside the Sevenseas Condominium building at around 6 am.

Rampaging boyfriend Oeaop was in an 'angry and uncooperative' state near her body as he was detained by officers. They pinned the shirtless man to the ground and cuffed him to be taken to the police station in the back of a pickup truck.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kanisorn Apisop, superintendent in the Jomtien district of the city, said: 'An initial examination on the dead woman found no signs of physical abuse on her body.

'The couple's room was messy with food containers and alcohol bottles, but there was no indication of fighting or a struggle.

'The boyfriend is in custody. He has an interpreter and we are waiting for the results of the post-mortem examination.

'The investigation is ongoing. We are investigating how the boyfriend was involved when the dead woman fell from the window.'

He added that forensics officers were taking fingerprints from the room while more CCTV footage was also being reviewed.

Meanwhile, investigators said that Oeaop had rented the room, with Daria coming to stay with him around a week ago.

They said the deceased had filed a report with Pattaya Police and consulted with Chonburi immigration officers last August 11 as she had lost her passport and was trying to go back home. Her body was taken to a hospital for a post-mortem examination to check whether she died before she was dropped.

Police from the Jomthien district detained the Russian man on grounds of drunken and disorderly conduct and on suspicion of manslaughter.

The Russian tourist, during initial questioning by Pattaya tourist police and Chonburi immigration officials, reportedly denied attacking his girlfriend. He underwent a drug test, but no narcotic substances were found in his bloodstream.

Thailand's current military government has made efforts to clean up Pattaya after it was dubbed the 'sex capital' of the world and a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.

However, the city's lucrative shadow economy based on sex, crime, drink and drugs has proved difficult to tame in the once-sleepy coastal city and continued to attract undesirable visitors from around the world.

A large number of British ex-pats have also set up bars in the sun-drenched resort, which has become an attractive place for pensioners to retire.
