The SDRF team rescued 20 individuals who were stranded due to flooding in northern India's Uttrakhand.


The incident took place in Aambag area of Rishikesh on August 14.


Visuals showed individuals trapped in houses submerged by water. A team from the SDRF worked together to rescue these people, using ropes to assist them in safely evacuating their homes.


Upon receiving the information, the SDRF team swiftly took action, reaching the location promptly and rescuing the stranded 20 individuals using rafts, and safely relocating them to a secure place.


As per reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a red alert for rainfall in six districts of Uttarakhand, which encompass Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Champawat. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Haridwar, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the region.


The majority of the rivers experienced overflowing due to the heavy rainfall, with the Ganga exceeding its danger level in Tehri, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.


At Rudraprayag, Srinagar, and Devprayag, the Alaknanda, Mandakini, and Ganga rivers surged beyond the hazardous thresholds, as reported by the disaster control room.


Landslide debris has led to blockages along several points of the Badrinath National Highway. Additionally, there is news of an individual being trapped beneath debris close to Pipalkoti.
