Hungry leopard cub tucks into deer carcass in Thai forest
This is the incredible moment a leopard cub was seen tucking into a deer that was caught by her mother in a Thai forest.
The hungry feline emerged from the undergrowth and prowled toward the carcass at the Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi province on August 10.
Footage shows the female wild cat tearing into the deer's flesh while eyeing its surroundings warily.
Onlooker Kittipong Ngamjling said: 'The little one was eating its breakfast. I had to be patient and wait for it to come out. The wait was worth it because I was able to observe the leopard clearly.'
Sittichai Nuchailek, chief of the Wildlife Conservation Office, said there were an estimated 200 to 300 panthers and leopards in the wild in Thailand.
Kaeng Krachan National Park officials said the apex predators can be seen along the park's Khao Sam Yod-Ban Krang-Phanoen Thung route.
Leopards are listed as 'vulnerable' under the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species. Their population is decreasing due to trophy hunting and human encroachment on their habitats.
