Amazing moment bottlenose dolphins follow conservation boat off Norfolk coast in rare sighting
This is the extremely rare moment that a pod of bottlenose dolphins follow a conservation boat off the north Norfolk coast.
The dolphins splash and play alongside the fisheries and conservation vessel, and locals hope that the pod will become a regular fixture in the area.
Photographer Chris Taylor, 51 captured the stunning footage using his drone on August 14, and used it to follow the action right along the coast from where the dolphins met the boat at Blakeney, north Norfolk.
“This is very rare here, and I’m convinced that it is the first time dolphins have ever been filmed in north Norfolk using a drone.
“They were so relaxed, tails flapping and looking at the boat, they stayed around for all of the daylight hours.” Said Chris, from Sherringham, north Norfolk who captured the footage.
It is believed that the dolphins may be in the area due to an abundance of mackerel, a plentiful food source for the pod of eight to ten creatures.
Chris added: “It was like they knew that the fisheries boat was the protector of the sea, all the people on board are conservationists so they were thrilled and all had out their phones.
“To see a pod of dolphins off north Norfolk is really exciting, it just shows the quality of the waters that apex predators are now coming here.”
