A local resident, Raju Kaushal, who filmed the incident, managed to alert those nearby, although some were caught in the collapse.

With 20-25 houses still in danger, residents have sought shelter with friends and relatives. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu tweeted about the evacuation efforts earlier in the day due to landslide fears. Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi provided further details, stating, "Body of one person has been recovered from the debris so far and rescue operation is still continuing. There were five houses that have been buried under the landslide debris and there are chances of more people being trapped."
