Single Thai father dresses up as woman for adopted daughter on Mother’s Day
This is the heartwarming moment a single father dressed up as a woman for his adopted daughter on Thai Mother's Day.
Pratchaya Tadeebu, 48, showed up to the Ban Noen Kroi School in Kamphaeng Phet province wearing a wig and checkered dress to accompany his daughter Nattawadee Kornjan, 15, for a Mother's Day event on August 11.
Tearjerking footage shows the pair in the middle of a thanksgiving ceremony, with the schoolgirl offering a jasmine flower then kneeling and bowing in front of her foster father in gratitude.
The ceremony ended with the two sharing a happy embrace.
Pratchaya, a PE and health teacher at the same school, said: 'I see Nattawadee as my actual daughter, and I did not want her to feel inferior.
'When my daughter asked me to crossdress, I did not hesitate. I didn't feel shy at all. I see her as my own biological daughter. That's why for her, I can become a 'mother'.'
Meanwhile, the thankful youngster Nattawadee said she was happy her father obliged her, praising his appearance as 'beautiful and cute'.
She said: 'I'm not embarrassed that I have only my dad. I'm thankful that he does his best to raise me and make me happy. If he doesn't get married, I hope we can do this again next year.'
Thai locals celebrate Mother's Day on August 12, coinciding with the birth of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, once revered by some of the locals as the 'Mother of the Nation'.
During the holiday, children gift their mums with garlands of jasmine, said to symbolise purity and maternal love.
