Driver miraculously escapes death after 50kg steel plate hits his skull
A driver miraculously escaped death after a 50kg steel plate hit his skull in eastern China.
The terrifying moment was filmed in Jiaxing City in Zhejiang Province on August 10.
A lorry, in the midst of its journey, had its cargo of steel plates become unsecured, resulting in a cascade of metal onto the road.
One particular steel slab, a square measuring around 50 cm on each side and as thick as a thumb, weighing roughly 50kg, did not merely lie idle on the tarmac. Instead, it catapulted airborne and struck a following courier vehicle with devastating force.
The metal plate, with its immense weight and velocity, pierced through the front windshield of the express van, directly targeting the driver's head.
The quick-thinking driver, catching a glimpse of the impending danger, instinctively ducked to evade the lethal projectile. Despite his rapid response, the sharp edge of the plate caused a serious injury to his head. Miraculously, the wounded driver managed to pull the van over onto the emergency lane.
Subsequent medical evaluations revealed a significant gash and displacement of the driver's skull. The victim was hospitalised for treatment and observation.
Fortunately, the injury was not life-threatening. Investigations and follow-up actions regarding the accident are ongoing.
