Nearly 500 residents in flooded area in northern India are rescued
A total of 493 people were rescued from a flood-hit Indora area in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.
This happened in the Kangra district on August 15.
Choppers were used to evacuate people from the flooded region with a woman seen being airlifted from a completely flooded area. Officials were seen carrying an old woman to an ambulance in a bid to get her medical help. As per a report, a total of 493 people were saved from the flooded area out of which 422 were evacuated by boat and 71 were airlifted with the help of three helicopter flights.
Out of those rescued, 25 people were from Mand Ghandra, 30 from Arni Vishwavidyalaya, 16 from Badala, 72 from Bela Indora, 45 from Mand Bhogarwan, 181 from Mand Miyani, 102 from Ulaidian, 9 from Dhameta and 13 from Haler regions. A 68-old woman, identified as Shroti Devi on Mand Ghadra was present among the 71 rescued with the help of a helicopter. She is a patient with a brain hemorrhage and was rescued from this area. Among the others rescued also included a one-month-old girl named Manushree, her mother Asha Rani, Jyoti Devi and her eight-year-old son Lavyansh and also eight-month pregnant Geeta.
Northern India, especially Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have received a lot of rainfall this monsoon which has resulted in a lot of floods and landslides all over the region.
