A huge python was caught underneath a car that had been taken for repairs.

The 8ft-long serpent was spotted by a mechanic inside the engine while he was trying to fix a customer's vehicle in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 22.

A local animal rescue team was called to the scene and helped to remove the reptile with their bare hands.

Footage shows volunteer Sakon Kanchanaphan holding the snake on its head and dragging its long body out while a colleague lured it out with a metal pole.

It was taken to the local fire station before being released into the wild.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
