Rescue team successfully saves hundreds of people after bridge collapse in northern India
In a valorous incident, a rescue team successfully saved hundreds of people after the bridge broke down in northern India's Uttarakhand.
The incident took place in Rudraprayag district on August 16.
As per reports, The SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) team led by HC Laxman Singh Rawat, as per the instructions of Mr. Manikant Mishra, Commandant SDRF, on the information that the bridge connecting the pedestrian path in village Goundar and part of the road was washed away due to heavy rain in Madmaheshwar Valley leaving the people stranded.
The SDRF rescue team reached the spot after walking for several kilometers in extremely adverse conditions where the bridge near Vantoli had collapsed and about 200 meters of the road had been completely destroyed on the other side of which many passengers were stranded. The river was also on the rise and the water level of the river was also continuously rising due to which it was not possible to cross the river.
In such dire circumstances, showing indomitable courage, SDRF rescue team personnel first crossed the raging river and built a rope base, then using the rope river crossing method, one by one, a total of 103 people were rescued many of which belonged to neighbouring states.
