A-Level students drowned their sorrows on Thursday night after a post-Covid dip in grades hit tens of thousands teenagers.

The groups of youngsters packed Broad Street in Birmingham to party the night away in many nightclubs including Heidi’s Bar, which at one point was surrounded by the revellers after 900 tickets were sold, causing a one in, one out door policy.

Several of the partygoers were helped by their friends as they took rests on the pavement or stumbled home.

Ambulances were seen racing up and down the nightclub strip attending to those who were worse-for-wear. A girl was helped by her friends who held a sick bag for her.

A group of girls could be seen wiping away tears as a lad sat down next to them on the roadside.

Some students were happy, with big smiles. Many posed for a group photo as the night wore on.

Towards the end of the night, people tucked into takeaways and police broke up a fight however no-one was arrested.
