A terrified delivery man's foot became stuck in an escalator in Thailand - sparking panic just weeks after a woman's leg was amputated.

Delivery rider Jirapat Wongchinda, 17, was walking down the escalator when his foot became trapped in the machinery in Pathum Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok on Wednesday evening, August 16.

Officers at the department's store heard his howls of fear and slammed the emergency stop button while running to his aid.

Jirapat was taken to the Rangsit Medical Hospital and is now safe.

Managers at the Zeer shopping mall said the mall has shouldered his medical expenses. They said they have closed the escalator for checks and are now investigating the accident.

The incident comes just weeks after a tourist's leg was amputated by a faulty travelator at the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok.
