Battle Against Urban Drug Epidemic: Cracolandia Cleanup and Merchant Protests in Sao Paulo, Brazil

The municipal authorities of Sao Paulo undertook a cleanup initiative in the area known as Cracolandia, located in the central part of the city. As part of this effort, individuals grappling with drug addiction were relocated to a different area to facilitate the cleaning process.
Just recently, local merchants staged a public demonstration on a thoroughfare to voice their dissatisfaction with the reduced customer influx caused by the presence of drug addicts. They were also concerned about the escalating number of thefts occurring in the vicinity.
