Three people have been injured after police were called to a large-scale disturbance in Elvaston Lane, Alvaston at 15:51 on August 20.

Police have confirmed that at least one person is in a serious condition following the incident. Eyewitnesses have said that they saw a man shot and then repeatedly attacked with a sword whilst he lay on the ground. Another witness said that the incident was caused by two gangs.

The incident took place at the Kabaddi grounds in Derby where events regularly take place. One man said that he now believed the Kabaddi tournaments will never happen again due to this saying it's been "ruined by gangsters".

Police have not yet gone into more detail confirming the reports of shots fired or the sword attack but armed officers were seen guarding the scene whilst others were seen in the immediate area surrounding the incident.

An air ambulance was called to the scene which is believed to have transported at least one individual to the Queen's medical centre in Nottingham and a National Police air service plane was seen circling the area for around 1 hour.
