STORYLINE:

Omani Ambassador to China, Nasser Mohammed Albusaidi, has said that Oman has a long history of exchanges with China and expects the two countries to work together in order to deepen their strategic partnership.

The ambassador made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua during the ongoing seventh China-South Asia Expo in Kunming, China's Yunnan Province.

"I'm very honored to participate in the China-South Asia Expo, and I'm very satisfied with this event. I believe the Expo provides a great opportunity for South Asian countries to promote mutual understanding."

Nasser said that the exchanges between China and Oman have a long history of over 1,000 years.

"Long ago, an Omani navigator visited Guangzhou and various other regions in China. Around 600 years ago, the most famous Chinese sailor, Zheng He, also made several voyages to Oman. Thus, the most important aspect of the 'Maritime Silk Road' between Oman and China was trade."

Nasser said he would like to promote Kunming, Yunnan to more Omani people.

"Oman is not only an oil-producing country, but also produces a lot of maritime products. Now many Omanis visit Guangzhou and know the city very well, so I hope that in addition to Guangzhou, Omanis will get to know more about Kunming in the future."

Nasser said that in the future, he hopes that more Omani companies will attend the expo so that Chinese consumers can know about various products of Oman, and at the same time, he hopes that more Chinese companies will invest in Oman.
