Russia has claimed that its self-propelled howitzers have hit Ukrainian positions and infantry fighting vehicles.

The footage shows a Russian howitzer opening fire on unseen targets before manoeuvering away.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Monday, August 21, along with a statement claiming: 'Crews of self-propelled howitzers 'Msta-S' destroyed a stronghold and enemy infantry fighting vehicles in the Kupyansk direction.'

The Russian MoD added: 'In the Kupyansk direction, scouts from the Western Military District uncovered camouflaged positions and a cluster of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
