The decayed body of a man has been found floating in the sea off a Thai island.

The corpse, with its head missing, was discovered by authorities drifting some 10 miles from the shore of Rayong province on August 18.

Police Captain Kajornsin Somaboot of Phe District Police Station said they received a report at 11:30 am and requested assistance from a rescue crew to retrieve the body.

The dead man was brought back to the Phe Pier. He was described as having a fair complexion, wearing black 'BOY BOXER' boxer shorts, with a white thread tied around his right wrist.

He was estimated to have been dead for around 15 to 30 days.

Police Captain Kajornsin said: 'The deceased may be the Cambodian fisherman reported missing by his wife last August 11.

'There was no more skin on the corpse so it was impossible to immediately identify him. We will be conducting a DNA test before making a conclusion.'
