Residents in East Hemet, California, woke up to a garage fire on August 22.

Arriving crews located a single-story family residence with the garage well involved and with a broken gas line shooting flames towards the neighbour's home.

The homeowners stated that they were awakened by the flames and heavy smoke coming from the garage and managed to run out of the house before the flames began extending to the interior of the residence.

Red Cross was called in for two adults, two children and a dog displaced.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries and was evaluated by AMR personnel on the scene.

The fire appears to have started in the garage but it's unknown at this time what the cause was.

EAST HEMET, CA - On 08/22/2023 at about 1:13 am, Cal Fire responded to reports of a residential fire in the 27000 block of Meridian St.
