South Texas, particularly around the city of Corpus Christi, found itself in the grip of Tropical Storm Harold on August 22, 2023. The storm, although potent, became an ironic sigh of relief for many in a region grappling with a prolonged drought.

The filmer on the scene described the storm's intensity, "The area saw rainfall amounts as high as 7 inches in just a few hours and winds gusting to over 50 mph." Despite the powerful forces of the storm, the damage it caused was relatively minor. "Some minor flooding and damage were reported," filmer Matt Pierce continued, "but no serious injuries or deaths have been reported from Tropical Storm Harold."

The South Texas region has languished under a moderate to severe drought, making the rains from Harold a welcome respite for many. However, the filmer noted the ongoing plight of the land, "Much of the region has been in a moderate to severe drought and many saw Tropical Storm Harold as a much-needed relief--but more rain is still desperately needed across the region."
