A raging storm battered buildings in northeast Thailand amid the rainy season onslaught.

Footage shows a powerful squall hammering the Chaloem Phra Kiat district of Nakhon Ratchasima province on August 19.

Small trees swayed and bent as the gales blew through the area, terrifying locals staying inside buildings

Local May Pannakon said: 'The wind was so strong that it left the glass panels cracked and damaged. Luckily, no one was hurt.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
