STORYLINE:
A Chinese animation and comics exhibition is being held in the Jordanian capital Amman, showcasing some 80 original artworks from Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The four-day event, named Irresistible Comics 2023-Chengdu Excellent Cartoon and Animation Works Exhibition, offers glimpses of Chengdu's culture and the Chinese animation industry.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): CHEN CHUANDONG, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan
"Animation and comics, I believe, can serve as a bridge of culture, a bridge of hearts and minds, and a bridge of friendship. I hope the exhibition will showcase the latest development of China's animation industry, and foster dialogue and collaboration between Chinese and Jordanian professionals, students, and youth in the animation community."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): NOURELDIN JUDEH, Student participating in cosplay show
"It was a very beautiful experience to be part of it for the first time and I like the cultural exchange between China and Jordan. It feels great."
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): SU SU, Chinese cosplayer
"I was surprised that everyone was very enthusiastic here, which made me feel that there was no communication barrier. Although I can't understand Arabic or English, their enthusiasm enables me to communicate with them. I hope that there will be more such events in the future to deepen cultural exchange."
The event, co-hosted by the China Cultural Center in Amman and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast-TV and Tourism, will conclude on Wednesday.
