A company have launched what they claim is the world’s most advanced personal flying machine.

The Airscooter is a personal VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft which the developers say can be flown without a pilot license.

The vehicle is the brainchild of Franky Zapata, who flew across the English Channel on a hoverboard in 2019 in 22 minutes.

His French firm, Zapata, claim the Airscooter will fly at 50mph and be able to cruise for two hours.

It would use a hybrid powertrain and sustainable fuel, with a carbon footprint "comparable to a passenger car"."

The company say: "At Zapata, we believe in a world with safe, clean, pleasant, and affordable airborne individual transport."

Early renderings of the craft appear to show it as a one-seater with eight rotors positioned above the cocoon-like cockpit.

Zapata say it will be compliant with the Federal Aviation Authority PART 103 Regulations, meaning it can be flown without a pilot license in the USA as an "ultralight aircraft"."

They add that its patented computer assisted 'fly-by-wire' controls "ensure the highest degree of safety while requiring minimal training"."

No price or delivery time has been announced for the Airscooter yet.
