India became the first country to land on the moon's south pole and the fourth overall nation after Chandrayaan-3 made a successful landing.

This happened on August 23.

Visuals showed the moment when the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft landed on the moon and cheers of joy erupted within the halls of the Indian Space Research Organisation with everyone involved in the mission tasting success. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also shown clapping and waving the national flag as India made history and strengthened its case for a global superpower. Modi was watching the event live from South Africa, where he is present for the BRICS summit.

India had failed in its last mission to land on the moon when the lander of Chandrayaan-2 crashed. Less than a week ago, Russia's moon mission Luna 25 had failed.
