Hundreds of fish stuck and suffocating under the ice - Vistula river - Poland
At one of the beaches on the Vistula River, the water froze, cutting off the fish's escape route to a deeper place. Hundreds of fish were trapped between the sand and 5 cm of ice. They had so little space that they had to swim sideways. Phenomenon caused by sudden cooling. That day in the morning the air temperature was -18 degrees Celsius.
