CCTV footage shows light fixtures swaying as a magnitude 5.1 quake hit the Philippines in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor struck at 1:38 a.m. 12 kilometres north of Bansud in Oriental Mindoro province at a depth of one kilometre.

State seismologists warned of aftershocks. However, no injuries or deaths were reported.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
