Footage shows the Russian Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system firing missiles at an air target in Ukraine.

The Russian Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system is seen in the video moving into position and successfully launching missiles and hitting the target in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Thursday, August 24, along with a statement claiming: 'Combat work of Tor-M2 crews in the Zaporizhzhia direction of the special military operation.

'The crews of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system of the anti-aircraft missile formation of the 29th combined-arms army of the Vostok group of troops (forces) continue to carry out tasks to destroy air targets and cover troops from an enemy air attack in the Zaporizhzhia direction of a special military operation.

'The Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system is capable of detecting, capturing and destroying up to 4 air-type targets simultaneously. The crew of the combat vehicle manages to occupy the firing point, deploy the launcher and detect the target in just 2 minutes. One more minute - to capture the target and determine it. Then a vertical launch of an anti-aircraft missile is carried out.

'Western analogues of air defence anti-aircraft missile systems can only dream of this method of entering the flight path.

'The means of objective control show that a reconnaissance drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the 'Shark' type was liquidated by the fire of the Tor-M2 air defence system on approaching the line of contact. Drones of this type pose a serious threat, it is they who direct Hymars missiles at the positions of our troops.

'The difficulty is that NATO-style drones fly at low altitudes. Difficult terrain….. But we shoot them down anyway. No one will hide from us,” said the deputy head of the calculation of the Tor-M2 air defence system with the call sign 'GES'.

'Only in recent days, the calculations of the Tor-M2 air defence system of the BVO formation shot down more than a dozen enemy drones - attack, reconnaissance, and also kamikaze drones.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
