Hapless stray cat found impaled on steel spike rescued in Thailand
A hapless stray cat found impales on a steel spike was rescued by locals in Thailand.
The moggie had slipped from the roof of a house and skewered itself on a metal rebar attached to a concrete fence in Bangkok on August 23.
Residents who heard the feline's pained cries found it seriously injured with the spike piercing its rear leg and stomach. They called rescue volunteers as the animal was bleeding profusely.
The team arrived with cutting equipment, and set to work sawing off the piece of metal. However, they had difficulties due to the cramped space and the frightened cat scratching and snapping at them.
After around an hour, they finally removed the metal spike from the wall.
With the object still jutting out from its leg, the cat was rushed to a veterinary hospital for surgery. It is now safe and out of danger.
A restaurant owner who has been taking care of the stray has paid for the medical expenses.
Meanwhile, a resident Chin Phumpad, 55, said: 'This cat is one of the cats that lives in an abandoned house behind the restaurant. It would come down and ask for food every day, then after eating, it will go back to rest at the top of the abandoned house.
'I learned from the restaurant owner that the cat was not his. But it always visits him, so he decided to take care of it.'
