SOUNDBITE (English): ANGELLO MUSINGUZI, Rwandan economic analyst"From my own estimation, the cooperation (between China and Africa) is positive.
We have students currently studying in China. Engineering, technology, and pharmacy. All these are good cooperation. And they are also trying to train our local people to come and implement what they studied from their schools.
When you talk about the investment of China to Africa, it is enormous.
One of the challenges we have in Africa is (the lack of) infrastructure. Poor road network. A poor road network affects farmers, affects transport companies, and affects everyone. So by setting up these linkages, the roads, the railways, the bridges, China is significantly lifting people out of poverty. People access markets very easily, and movement from one area to another (has improved).
In the area of technology, we see also China stepping in to assist developing countries, especially in Africa, to develop their technology, which is a very good move. So in my evaluation, this investment by the Chinese government is very important, and the cooperation between China and Africa, if it continues like that, will help Africa get out of abject poverty and align with the rest of the developing countries. It is a tremendous journey. It's a very good move that China is considering Africa as one of its partners in economic development."
